Stevie Nicks interview
CNN Showbiz this week - Aired May2,1998

JIM MORET, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over):
Fresh from Fleetwood Mac's successful reunion tour, Stevie Nicks is going her own way once again, this time with "Enchanted," a three-CD box set of her greatest solo hits.
STEVIE NICKS, SINGER: It was like reliving my life, because every -- you know, all my solo songs, especially my solo songs, are all about me and all about, you know, my relationships and my life. Some of it's good, you know, and some of it's bad, I mean, some of it reminds of stuff that I'd just as soon not remember, and some of it reminds me of things that I am really glad that I have written a song about so that I can total remember it.
MORET: Selected as one of "People" Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People." Nicks has overcome years of health problems and substance abuse.
NICKS: My songwriting has always been an outlet for me, because it does allow you to put down on paper -- first it goes down on paper, you know -- how you're feeling. And I think once you put it down on paper and look at it down there, it becomes easier to deal with.
MORET: She's long been a role model for other women in rock who've chosen the same difficult career path.
NICKS: Sometimes when I think -- I didn't have any children, and I look around at all the girl singers, and I think they're all my children, you know, and they're all going to do this, you know. And, yes, maybe I inspired them, because I did get through a lot, and I did have all the same problems that they're going to have. You do have to give up a lot for it. I think that I'm going to figure out a way, when I die, to have made it all worth it, to have made what I had to give up totally worth it, because what I have gotten back I will make sure that I have balanced them by that time.
MORET: She'll be embarking on a solo tour, but she won't rule out another Fleetwood Mac reunion. Nicks also wants to do an animated children's movie, maybe even write a novel.
