September 30th, 2001 - Shoreline Amphitheater, Mountain View,CA

by Linda (Rumourshead)

After getting stuck for two hours in traffic. I finally made it to the Shoreline with my friend that I had bribed with a free ticket and dinner.

It was burning hot all day. The Shoreline was like an armed camp with about 75 regular city cops, Police cars everywhere, road blocks, etc. They really did check everything going in. They even had metal detectors. I got frisked by a woman along with everyone else. Small private planes kept flying over us all night, which was weird. The parking lots were overflowing, even with dozens of people helping with traffic.

First, California played. They were alright. The music started at about 8:30 pm. Also, large beach balls were being knocked around like vollyballs.

Then the lights go out, and there were screams from the crowd. The place was 90% filled, plus the lawn was packed with people. Stevie starts singinga couple songs... she sang Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams",talked about Lindsey and her a lot, how they started out in this area. And how they used to play at Lindsey's Dad's place. Remember guys, Lindsey was born minutes from there, plus they went to school there. She also mentioned how very special this area was for them because of all of the memories. The band was strong and Sheryl was great with Stevie. In fact, those two are great together!

She sang the regular set list including "Gold Dust Woman" and "Planets of the Universe".She told the crowd that she loved us all. That lady really does love her fans. Sheryl said again twice that she thought that Stevie had the best fans in the world.

Stevie wore her usual black dress, with high boot Reeboks. Unfortunately however, I couldn't see her that well as my seat was far back. The stage was beautiful, and the colored flood lights flashed all night. She wore her top hat toward the end with a beautiful long feather.

She did shake alot of hands, took flowers and some gifts. She actually started crying at the end. The crowd stood most of the time and people were dancing.Stevie got a wonderful ovation at the end of each song and the very end of the show.

It was my first Stevie Nicks concert and I must say...Stevie Nicks fans ARE the best in the world. I really do understand now why people adore that beautiful lady. I had a great time and I loved seeing Stevie.

One former little banking clerk is easy to overlook, but finally years later one of her wish's came true, with seeing Stevie Nicks in concert.
