by Shawn Rocca ("Mirago") Last night's show at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto was high entertainment!

Walking through the crowd just to find our seats, it already felt like it
was going to be a bigger show than the Say You Will show, I couldn't
tell.
Finding our seats and soaking it all in as the show began, there was
literally not an empty seat in the house! The 300s up above had many empty
pockets at the SYW show but not last night??!!
It was a revelation to behold
but why? Attach the word, "Hits" to your tour and you suddenly bank in more
guests!? This threw everything I had come to enjoy about my opinion about the
need for new music into disarray, but anyway.
Monday Morning was great to
hear even though I felt it was like the final audio test for the sound, meaning
I could hardly hear Stevie.
Quickly, The Chain corrected the strangeness and
the crowd hit full stride quickly and effortlessly.
I'm not crazy about
hearing studio marvels Dreams and Gypsy live anymore but I was blown away by
Gold Dust Woman and Silver Springs! Stevie seemed to really give it her all and
they were my highlights.
Lindsey was the absolute heart of the show! The
man did not stop and this is his tour!!! All crowd excitment incurred was from
this man's doing! I loved that he got his solo spotlights during Big Love and
I'm So Afraid and joked about telling everyone else to hide in the shadows, but
the man wholly earned these moments!
All in all, the only criticism that
I would give the show was that it felt like it was sometimes on auto-pilot,
which isn't a good or a bad comment, but just a note. For example during
Landslide, as Stevie walked towards Lindsey, it seemed to me like she was
rehearsing it in her head, "I'm going to move in close to him now", kind of
thing. But other than me, who cares? The crowd didn't seem to mind and the
excitement level just blew me away. They felt like and were treated like
Legends. Stevie mentioned that last night's show was the last show for 2 weeks
so they brought it their all, I wouldn't know how much so though.
Regardless, the joy trumped all!
I also thought Say You Love Me was a
great nod to Christine, sounds wonderful live! But, Don't Stop. I am so
surprised to say this but as the encore, it was one of the only times I
remember, literally everyone singing along! So like the song or not, I loved it
last night and I guess that's where the magic of live music lies. They looked
great and sounded great, I think we still have a future people! :)
Shawn.
