I attended both the Oct 30th & 31st Fleetwood Mac concerts at Wembley
Arena and they were simply great shows. I saw the US tour last spring four
times, and if anything the band is having even more fun now. Lindsey has changed
to wearing a blue shirt on stage, and Stevie wears a long tan shawl for Stand
Back. Otherwise the show is the same. Stevie has cut the top off of her classic
black boots and added some silver studs. She wears them for the last third of
the show and looks wonderful in them. She looks great all around.
The British audiences were going nuts for the band, which was really nice.
On the second night some idiot sitting in the front kept throwing condoms at
Lindsey on stage. Finally in a very nice way Lindsey asked him to stop, saying
he or Stevie could slip on them. He was very funny throwing them back out into
the audience, adding that he guessed it was a compliment, even though the person
throwing them at him was a guy. But you could also tell that if it hadn't
stopped Lindsey would have gotten angry for real, but luckily it did stop. Also
that night during the band bows at the end of the show someone handed Stevie a
multicolored stuffed toucan bird, which she put up on Mick's drum set, just like
she used to do in the old days.
These shows were so happy for the band, you could really see it in their
behavior. I hope they tour the US again next year.
The only thing I didn't like was that the shirts they made up with the
European and Australian Tour dates on the back didn't come in large enough
sizes. I heard a lot of people ask the concession staff if the band thought
Brits were all tiny people. They would have sold more shirts if they hadn't made
such a stupid mistake. You would think they would know better after all these
years.
